Dales Traineeships in Countryside Management
After the success of our Apprenticeship schemes since 2001 the Trust is continuing to provide opportunities for young adults by securing further funding for similar projects.
The current scheme runs until December 2007 providing up to five people the opportunity to work towards an NVQ2 in Countryside Management at Craven College for which they will receive a weekly allowance. Placements are held with the Trust's partner organisations including Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and National Trust and trainees will work with experienced staff to learn traditional countryside skills such as; woodland management, pathway improvements and repairs, dry stone walling, grassland management etc.
Funding for the scheme comes from the European Social Fund, the Dulverton Trust and the Ernest Cook Trust.
Trainees are aged 16 to 24 years, and they reside within selected European
Social Fund's Objective 2, priority 3 areas. These include: Clapham,
Cowling, Ribbleside, Aysgarth, Bolton Manor, Catterick with Tunstall, Grinton
and Upper Swaledale, Hawes and St. Agatha's.
